Choosing the right trampoline can allow you to bounce your way to health and fitness, all the time having a great deal of fun — alone or with your family. While trampolines are a great way to get fit while having fun, how do you find the right one for you?
Like so many other fitness products these days, including exercise equipment, there is such a vast array of shapes and sizes available that any choice can seem completely overwhelming. But if a trampoline seems like the right fun and fitness choice for you, here are a few tips to bear in mind before you hand over your credit card to pay for it.
Please be aware that buying the wrong type of fitness equipment can sometimes result in serious injury, so it is always recommended that you invest time and energy in finding not only the right trampoline for you, but also one that is constructed to the very highest of safety standards.
Sometimes, the injury results not from the trampoline’s usage but from the set-up itself, so please make sure you read and follow the instructions very well. It is always suggested that 2-3 people set up the trampoline.
It would be good to do some research on the trampoline’s manufacturer before you sign on the dotted line, making sure that they have the reputation of producing only high quality goods. Make sure that the manufacturer or retailer offers a warranty, and check out their return policy, just in case some flaw should exist in your trampoline.
And what do we mean by high quality construction? Your trampoline should have a sturdy frame and a taut base that will allow you bounce safely and to your heart’s content. Of course personal taste and needs come into play — will you use the trampoline indoors or outdoors? How much space do you have in your backyard, what room are you going to use it in indoors? Will you be jumping alone or are you going to share the experience with others? You see, these will determine the style and size of trampoline best suits you.
And what about accessories and storage? Some trampolines are folding trampolines, some of them can be fitted with safety net surrounds that make sure you or your children do not overshoot the trampoline’s edges. Some trampolines that are for a single person use come with a bar that you can hold onto while you can buy safety pads for other larger trampolines.
Read user reviews before you buy. There are some reviews we read where folks do not recommend a particular type if you live in a windy area, for example.
While we all love a bargain, remember that you usually get what you pay for, so don’t shy away from paying a little more to get a sturdier trampoline, especially if you anticipate heavy usage. And make sure you choose one that has all the safety components built in or add-on accessories available. When you know you have made the right choice, there will be no limits to your fitness fun, and you will bounce yourself all the way to better health.
